A Liverpool restaurant has been getting rave reviews and is quickly becoming one of the best rated restaurants in the city.
The Butterfly and The Grasshopper is currently number three on TripAdvisor, with all but two of its 87 reviews rating it as ‘excellent’.
The venue is slightly tucked away but well worth seeking out. The restaurant was formerly known as The Roscoe Arms, and can be found on Oldham Street, just off Renshaw Street.
Named after William Roscoe’s poem The Butterfly’s Ball and the Grasshopper’s Feast, the venue has become something of a hidden gem in the city, with many singing its praises.

Another said: “This place is unreal if you’re in Liverpool get down here, the food is delicious we had the king prawns, lamb chips and twisted fish fingers and they were absolutely amazing. The drinks are so well presented and such good quality ale.”
A third reviewer added: “Came out to celebrate our lockdown engagement. We were seated in the bar at first which was a bit too loud for us but the manager very kindly moved us upstairs to a quieter area even though they were busy. Food and drinks were beautiful and staff were very attentive and friendly. I will be recommending this place to my friends”.
The Butterfly and The Grasshopper’s menu is split into ‘The Land’, ‘The Sea’ and ‘The Earth’, with dishes including slow cooked lamb with crushed potatoes, king prawn linguine and roasted cauliflower steak. Cocktails include passion fruit mojito and cherry margarita.
The only two restaurants in Liverpool currently rated higher by TripAdvisor reviewers are The Greek Taverna Bold Street, which is in the number one spot, and Pippin’s Corner on Lark Lane, which is number two.
