Neighbours were left in shock after coming out of their homes to a crime scene at the centre of a double stabbing.
Police rushed to Southgate Road in Old Swan on Wednesday, following reports that a man and woman had been stabbed in the chest and back.
A resident living in the street said the couple were “covered in blood” as they were wheeled into the back of an ambulance at around 3.15pm.
They were taken to hospital for their injuries which are not believed to be life threatening, police said.
A 21-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and taken to a police station for questioning.
The investigation is said to be in its “very early stages”, with police and forensics remaining at the scene into Wednesday evening.
A neighbour said the couple who were stabbed were a “nice young couple”, who “kept themselves to themselves.”
She said: “They seem like a nice young couple, my daughter used to go to school with her. They seemed really quiet and always kept themselves to themselves.
“Nothing ever happens in this street it’s like an old fashioned street, we all keep an eye on each other.
“It’s just shocking something like this has happened.”
