Primark’s extended city centre store will open today with a Greggs café inside.
The retailer has carried out a huge £3m extension to its Church Street store that aims to promise shoppers ‘more choice and variety’ with a new layout and two new additions. The extension will open to the public from 9am on Friday, and bring the store size to over 94,000 sq ft, spread across five floors.
It will see Primark’s Home department – one of the store’s most popular – move from a small section on the top floor to its own dedicated space on the ground floor. The extension will also make more space for two of its other bestselling departments, kids and women’s, giving shoppers a more ‘spacious’ experience.

In addition to the extension, the store is also welcoming a Tasty by Greggs café on the second floor and a WornWell by the Vintage Company on the lower ground floor.
The café will be the fifth of its kind in the UK, following the launch of the first Tasty by Greggs in Primark Birmingham last year. It will enable shoppers to stop for a snack whilst browsing.
Primark Liverpool store manager Chris Cassidy said: “Since opening our doors in 2007, Primark Liverpool quickly became one of our most popular stores in the country. Now, with the extension, it becomes our sixth biggest in terms of space too.
“We’ve seen that our local customers love our Home range, so I’m thrilled that we’ve been able to expand the store to give them more of what they love. The additional space will give customers an overall improved shopping experience, whilst the arrival of Greggs and WornWell – two of our most popular partnerships – means they’re in for a treat when they next visit. We can’t wait to see what they think!”
