‘Prettiest town in the UK’ that’s just a two-hour drive from Liverpool

A town two hours away from Liverpool has been picked out as ‘the prettiest in the UK’.

Keswick, in the Lake District, won out in an analysis of data for more than 160 UK destinations.

Fbm Holidays scored each town and village on several ranking factors, including the number of awards, the number of Instagram hashtags for the location and how many National Trust sites are nearby.

Keswick came out at the top of the list, beating out more than 100 others, LancsLive reports.

The market town is home to a range of stunning hiking trails and beauty spots such as Derwentwater, one of the principal bodies of water in the Lake District National Park.

For those looking to stop at a local watering hole, there are plenty of quaint pubs as well as specialist beer breweries and whisky distilleries to wind down. There’s even a pencil museum to visit.

Describing the picturesque town, Fmb Holidays said: “Keswick, a market town based in the beautiful Lake District, topped the list with almost 400,000 Instagram hashtags, 20 National Trust sites, 3+ million Google images and numerous designations such as being part of the Lake District National Park, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Area of Conservation.”

Tenby was second on the list, closely followed by Salcombe in Devon coming third.
