Police close road after man hit by car near Liverpool airport

A man was taken to hospital after he was hit by a car near Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

The emergency services were called out to a section of Hale Road in Speke at around 6.47pm today following reports of an accident.

A man had been hit by a car, police said. He was taken to hospital by ambulance but his injuries are not thought to be serious.

The driver of the car involved in the accident stopped at the scene.

Police closed a section of Hale Road while they attended the scene. The cordon was still in place this evening.

The pedestrian will now be checked over by doctors.

The ECHO understands the accident did not affect traffic bound for the nearby airport.

A police spokesman said: “We were called to the scene of an accident on Hale Road at around 6.47pm today. A man has been taken to hospital.

The circumstances surrounding the accident are now under investigation.”
