People vow to ‘lift spirits’ by putting up Christmas trees early

Today marks 100 days until Christmas and people in Liverpool are determined to start celebrating early this year.

While it may still seem like a long way off, it might not be many more weeks until you start seeing those twinkling fairy lights appearing in windows across the city.

Last year we noticed that people across Merseyside were keen to get started early, with trees being spotted far and wide well before the end of November.

Now, after a difficult year for many due to the coronavirus pandemic, people are more determined than ever to spread some festive cheer. Will you be putting your decorations up early this year? Let us know in the comments below.

Carmen Lockyer said: Yes if it can cheer up a miserable year and lift spirits, why not cheer up our streets and homes, can’t break any covid laws.”

Helen Harrison agreed: “Definitely going up earlier this year !!!!”

Sam Crosby said: “Yep straight after Bonfire Night.”

And Kayliegh Demunnik is planning on putting her tree up even earlier. She said: “November 1st. Need the extra joy and happiness this year. Not taking anything for granted.”

Denise Campbell added: “Can’t wait but keeping the tree for December so it’s fresh and smelling lovely”.

But not everyone is quite ready to start the festivities.

Lynne Lancaster said: “Not yet PLEASE.”
