Lancashire’s Moor Hall has retained its title as one of the top restaurants in the United Kingdom.
Chef Mark Birchall opened the venue in 2016 and within only two years, built Moor Head to receive two Michelin stars and pave its own path in the industry as one of the country’s finest establishments.
Several years later Moor Hall boasts the highest honour possible as one of the top restaurants in all of the United Kingdom, along with the title of England’s best restaurant in 2023.

The National Restaurant Awards are decided by a panel of more than 200 experts drawn from across the industry including food writers, chefs and restaurateurs. Moor Head has continuously topped the list with its stunning Lancashire Grade-II listed building set across five acres of gardens including its own lake.
The beautiful glass-fronted restaurant has an open kitchen as well as a walk-in cheese room, where diners are encouraged to visit to make their selection. Moor Head also makes its own charcuterie in-house and uses honey from its five beehives located within its verdant grounds.
Thrilled with their achievement, Moor Head’s head of marketing, Laura Harris, told the ECHO: “It’s voted for by leading figures within the industry and it is quite literally their opinion that determines the winners. There are so many incredible restaurants featured in the list, so just to be included is great, to be voted the best in England for the second year running is amazing.
“All the team here and everyone behind the venue are just ecstatic, everyone’s so proud. Everyone is over the moon. It’s a testament to Mark and the entire team, everyone who works here is so passionate about Moor Hall”
