Liverpool bars ‘inundated’ with bookings until December

We’ve now got less than a month until we can visit our favourite pubs and bars again, if the government’s roadmap out of lockdown stays on track.

Venues are set to reopen on April 12, for outside table service only and can then welcome customers back inside from May 17.

After months of being unable to trade as usual, Liverpool’s hospitality sector is preparing to reopen, with many places already taking bookings – and it certainly sounds like people are ready for a night out.

In fact, many venues are reporting an increase in demand for bookings, with tables and booths being booked until December.

Liberte Rooftop Bar and Restaurant has said its booths are fully booked on April 12 and every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until the end of May, having sold out in just 45 minutes when bookings went live.

The rooftop bar, on top of the Bentley Building on the Strand, is open seven days a week until May 17 when Liberte will then open its indoor restaurant.

Booths at its events, which are held every Saturday and Sunday are almost fully booked until the end of September, with just one or two still left in July and August. Tickets for the events are still available.

Kier Smith, the Business Development Manager at Liberte, told the ECHO: “Since the roadmap was announced, we’ve been absolutely inundated with bookings for the rooftop and restaurant which has been amazing. We can’t wait to reopen and welcome all of our guests again to provide the best atmosphere and views across the waterfront. Restaurant and table bookings for June onwards are now open and we’d recommend being quick and securing your preferred date as spaces are going so fast.”

Elsewhere in the city, Dwtwn on Harrington Street has also been inundated. Co-owner Jon Hewitt, told the ECHO: “Since the roadmap out of lockdown was announced by Boris Johnson on February 22 we have seen a real increase in enquiries and bookings. Our new cocktail and piano bar Dwntwn, on Harrington Street, has seen booth bookings go through the roof all the way to December as people look to try and make up for lockdown, with nights out in the city.

“From May to July, Friday and Saturdays are now filling up fast. We are finding a lot of people are bookings booths for belated birthday parties – the likes of 21, 30 and so on.”

Phil Gillespie, Head of Marketing for JSM Group said they are taking advanced bookings for the Old Bank, for May 17 onwards and said “it’s filling up fast”. He added: “The first Saturday, May 22, sees us nearly sold out. For the first week of no restrictions in June [June 21 onwards] we’re sold out of most events at Level and either all completely sold out or down to the last few tickets for Electrik. Electrik is running a full week of events that week.”
