I tried Matalan’s £18 ‘bargain’ dress and it’s perfect for any occasion

Matalan shoppers went crazy for a ‘lovely’ midi dress they spotted online this week – and I couldn’t help but give it a go.

Now things are getting back to normal after lockdown restrictions, shoppers are scoping out social media for the best clothing and accessories. And items that can go from day to night are more popular than ever.

This week Matalan shoppers spotted its Black Heart Print Midi Shirt Dress on Instagram and quickly shared their love in the comments section.

Many praised the dress as being perfect “for any occasion”.

The dress, which is priced at £18, is black with small white hearts and has cropped sleeves and a belted waist to provide added shape. The midi dress is finished with a collared button front.

The material of the dress was soft and felt much more expensive than it was. It was thin but not so much that I’d need to worry it would be see-through.

The fitting of the dress was true to size and the material was pleasant to touch – and didn’t itch or do any unwanted clinging. The length was a tiny bit long to be midi but I’ll put that down to my height.

The matching belt provided extra shape and even gives you more options for how to wear the dress. I tried it tied in the front and at the back and could definitely see why shoppers said the dress would work for any occasion.

I’d definitely wear this dress to work, or to drinks with friends. It’s all about how you style it – just the simple changing of where the belt is tied makes a huge difference.

At £18 I can see why Matalan shoppers are being quick to snap this dress up – I’m certainly glad I did.
