I found the perfect Cider summer dress dupe in Poundland

I really like the brand Cider, even if it does take ages for your package to arrive.

I recently bought one of their viral dresses, the Cider Curve & Plus ‘fruit square neck puff sleeve midi dress’. The version with the lemon print has proved to be very popular online, but I felt that was a bit too bright so opted for a more autumnal print – marked as ‘multicolour’ online.

And it was lovely, with a light material and a flattering cut, skimming over the tummy area and I had bought it on sale, but it is now £21. With it becoming a bit of an easy summer go to, I was surprised to find a very similar cut dress in Poundland.

Poundland’s clothing line Pep&Co is not really the brand you think of for fashionable clothing, I would think of wardrobe staples like t-shirts, hoodies and some good kids’ clothes for them to run around in. But for £12.99 and a lovely ditsy floral design, I was willing to give it a go.

And in some ways it is better than my Cider dress. Firstly, I think the fabric is more breathable, while the Cider one is 100% polyester, there is a little more stretch and give in the Pep&Co version. I also preferred the Pep&Co’s sleeves as they were a little longer so for me personally, I found them more flattering as I thought the Cider dress’ shorter sleeves finished at the widest part of my arm.

And while I love a square neckline, the dress from Poundland was a bit more interesting, with some slight gathering in the front. Because of the material and sleeve lengths, I find the Pep&Co dress more wearable, especially in summer.

But what both dresses lacked was the one thing I always complain about – no pockets. Such a shame we are still here in 2023 begging for a few pockets on womens’ clothing. For £12.99, this was an unexpected gem I am going to find easy to wear through summer and into autumn and when I make my next trip to Poundland I will be sure to check the Pep&Co section.
