EasyJet crew member 'headbutted by passenger' on Liverpool flight

A EasyJet cabin crew member was reportedly headbutted by a passenger on a flight coming in to Liverpool Airport.

Police were called to Liverpool Airport at around 8pm due to the incident that happened mid-flight from Belfast.

Witnesses reported that the man was drunk and became abusive to staff on the flight before the altercation with the cabin crew member.

It is believed that when the plane landed in Liverpool, the man was removed from the flight by police and arrested, but this has not yet been confirmed.

After the incident, an EasyJet flight from Liverpool to Alicante, that was due to leave shortly after the Belfast flight arrived, was delayed until Saturday morning.

In a statement, easyJet said that a passenger was behaving disruptively, leading to officers being called, and that the incident is being taken seriously by the airline.

A spokesperson for EasyJet told the ECHO: “EasyJet can confirm that flight EZY610 from Belfast to Liverpool on 31 July 2020 was met by police on arrival in Liverpool due to a passenger behaving disruptively.

“EasyJet’s cabin crew are trained to assess and evaluate all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time.

“Whilst such incidents are rare we take them very seriously and do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour onboard.

“The safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew is always EasyJet’s priority.”
