City centre cafe makes ‘heartbreaking’ decision to close for good

One of Liverpool city centre’s loved cafes is closing for good after a “devastating” year.

Siren on St James Street in the Baltic Triangle has taken to its social media pages to announce the news.

The restaurant said it has taken the “heartbreaking” decision to close down following a “devastating” year.

In a message to fans, the team wrote: “To all our lovely customers, friends & followers.

“It’s our first post in a while but unfortunately it will also be our last. We wanted to let you all know that we’ve had to make the heartbreaking decision to close SIREN Liverpool.

“This last year has been devastating for our business & we are unfortunately unable to continue.

“We are so incredibly grateful to each and every one of you for your support over the last eight years. We will miss you all terribly, thank you all for the memories.”

Siren served up everything from brunch and lunch to coffee and cocktails with an emphasis on fresh, seasonal, homemade food. The space was often rented for private events and had even hosted intimate, relaxed weddings.

Fans were quick to comment on the post expressing their sadness at the decision and sharing their memories.

Beneath the post, one person said: “I’m so very sorry to hear this. I had such a wonderful function with you in 2017. All the best to you all.”

Another wrote: “Oh girls This is devastating! What a truly fantastic business you built! Lots of love”.

A third said: “So sorry to hear this – we want to thank you for making our 2019 wedding so perfect – Siren will always have a special place in our hearts. Good luck to you all on your future adventures”.

Another added: “This is very sad news. Thank you for giving myself and my wife the most perfect wedding reception. Siren will always have a very special place in our hearts..take care.”
