Cadbury has released two new plant-based bars, which will be available in Sainsbury’s supermarkets in November, reports MEN.

The coveted bars come in two flavours, Smooth Chocolate and Smooth Chocolate with Salted Caramel pieces.

Taking to Instagram, Cadbury UK shared a text image of its apology and captioned it: “We just wanted to say…”

The apology notice reads: “Dear plant based Britain,

“We’re sorry.

“Sorry it’s taken this long. Sorry it seemed like we weren’t listening to your calls. Sorry for not being able to respond to the rumours.

“And sorry for all the other chocolate you’ve had to eat while you waited.

“We simply wanted to it to be perfect. And, just as with plants, perfection takes time.

“But the Cadbury plant bar is finally ready.

“A delicious smooth chocolate without the ‘glass and a half’.

“We hope you’ll agree it was worth the wait.

“Apologetically yours, Cadbury x”.

The news proved popular among Cadbury’s 273k Instagram followers, with the post racking up more than 16,000 likes.

Shoppers shared their thoughts in the comments section.

Aislinn said: “YESSSSS”.

Lottie said: “Wahoo great news!!!!!”

Becky said: “About time”.

Another shopper commented: “Finally!!!!!!!!!!” and another said: “I am so pumped for this”.

Bailey said: “I can’t wait to try! Thank you for offering a vegan product, the future is moving towards a plant based food system for animals and our planet.”

But not everyone was quite so impressed.

One frustrated shopper said: “This is great but you could do more gluten free too. Since vegan is a lifestyle choice and being coeliac is not.”

Another added: “Why does everything have to be salted caramel”.

A third critic slammed: “What about those of us with an allergy to almonds? I thought you guys were waiting so long to make a bar without nuts!”
