Everything you need to know:

  • Ten Liverpool venues are in the running to be named 2026 Pub of the Year. Campaign For Real Ale (CAMRA) has announced the shortlist of contenders.
  • The shortlist is based on pub scores submitted by CAMRA members over the past year. Members rate beer quality from zero to five on WhatPub whenever they visit.
  • A score of zero means no cask ale is available, while five represents a perfect beer. Hundreds of scores are reviewed to select the top 10 pubs.
  • A CAMRA spokesperson said the selection process aims to be fair, objective, and representative of its members. Liverpool’s strong pub scene makes the competition especially tough.
  • Liverpool and District CAMRA members can vote for up to three of the shortlisted pubs. The winner will be crowned on March 15 after judging.
  • The Liverpool branch area covers locations inside Crosby, the M57 to Speke, and the River Mersey. Pubs in Formby, Rainhill, Hale, and the Wirral fall under neighbouring branches.
  • CAMRA’s Top 10 includes Roscoe Head, Lion, Baltic Fleet, Doctor Duncans, Vernon, Peter Kavanagh’s, Cobden, Black Cat Rose Lane, Coop, and Four Ashes. The venues are spread across areas including the city centre, Woolton, Mossley Hill, Crosby, and Waterloo.
