All the new Liverpool venues and events opening this week

There are a multitude of new venues opening and interesting events taking place in Liverpool this week.

In the space of just seven days, there will be a new music shop, entertainment venue and bar opening in the city centre, as well as several pop-up events and the opportunity to save money on eating out.

Whether you prefer fashion, food or a night out, there should be something new for everyone to enjoy. Here is a round-up of what to expect and look out for.

Rough Trade

Independent music shop Rough Trade offers a wide range of vinyl records, including limited and rare editions, as well as music books and merchandise in addition to live gigs. The Liverpool shop will be its biggest UK store to date.

The new shop, located on Hanover Street, will comprise two floors, with the ground floor housing the record store and café. The first floor will be a venue space with a capacity of 290.

The ground floor will open this week at 10am on Thursday, April 18, with the rest of the shop opening in May.

SHEIN

Online fashion retailer SHEIN is opening up a pop-shop in Liverpool ONE this weekend to explore new season trends from SHEIN’s partywear, workwear, swimwear and Curve collections, as well as customer favourites. It will introduce SHEIN’s hotly anticipated fashion label, MUSERA, to shoppers in person for the first time.

There will be a VIP party on Thursday, April 18, with the pop-up open to all from Friday, April 19 to Sunday, April 21.

Moonshine Saloon

Those in the city this week can experience an immersive wild-west bar with Moonshine Saloon. Those attending can enjoy bespoke cocktails that are prepared by a team of mixologists and barkeeps who combine your smuggled alcohol with bitters, syrups, liqueurs and garnishes to make contemporary and classic drinks.

The bar is located on Seel Street. It will open on Friday, April 19.

BOXPARK

Entertainment venue BOXPARK will be opening its first venue outside London in Liverpool this week. Canning Hall in the Baltic Triangle will be home to a huge food hall and events space, with eight independent food and drink stalls and a big screen.

The venue will be open on Friday, April 19, with a launch party followed by several events across the weekend. Toxteth-born DJ Jade Edwards will be amongst those performing.

Wiff Waff

Wiff Waff is an al fresco ping pong hall and will boast 10 tables, allowing 20 people to play at once. The Baltic Triangle pop-up will also provide bar snacks from around the world, background beats, pastry pop-ups and product launches. It will open on Friday, April 19.

The Jacaranda will be celebrating Record Store Day this Saturday, April 20. The record store on Slater Street will be selling never-before-released albums, reissues of rare classics, and alternative versions of fan favourites. While doors open at 8am, the store has said they expect queues to form outside from midnight.

There will be DJ sets and live music too. Then, in the evening there will be a Record Store Night Party held at the Jacaranda Baltic in the Baltic Triangle. The night features a multi-act show headlined by Kyle Falconer of The View, with tickets priced at £15.

GoodMarket XL

The GoodMarket XL independent shopping event will feature over 175 local independent outlets. Stalls will feature new and vintage clothing, artwork, homeware and food. There will also be creative masterclasses and children’s entertainment, along with music from in-house DJ’s Coffee & Turntables.

The event will take place in the Exhibition Centre on the Pier Head and is billed as the largest independent curated shopping event outside of London. It will be open from 11am to 4pm, with tickets starting from £3. Children under 16, National Union of Students cardholders and adults over £60 go free. More information is available here.

Meanwhile, the Glass Onion Vintage Market will have a wide range of vintage clothes on sale, including American and European styles, designer, premium and rare items. Sharing a name with The Beatles song and the hit film Knives Out, starring Daniel Craig, Glass Onion Vintage is a company that sources retro fits from around Europe and the USA.

The fair will take place at the Invisible Wind Factory in the Ten Streets area of the city centre. It will take place on Sunday, April 21 from 11am to 4.30pm.

Liverpool Restaurant Week

In exactly a week’s time, Liverpool Restaurant Week will begin. Taking place from April 22 to 28, businesses across the city will offer unique menus such as a £5, £15, £25 or £35 menu option across fine dining, desserts, fast food, bars, brunch spots and top venues.

A ‘Foodie Passport’ can be picked up at participating venues. If you collect five stamps at any venue, you will get the chance of winning a meal out each week for a whole year.
